Do You Need to Renew?

There has been a significant adjustment regarding Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers (ITIN). They are used by Taxpayers who are not eligible for a Social Security number. Many of these expired on January 1 and need to be renewed in order to be used again.

An adjustment made to the PATH Act, made it so that an ITIN that has not been used in the past 3 years has expired. Any ITIN with middle digits of 78 or 79 are also no longer valid. Renewal applications for these identifiers must be turned in soon because the process can take up to 11 weeks. See your Tax Professional for assistance.
